New mothers who wish to spend time after the birth bonding with their baby may choose a Post-natal Doula to help them through post-natal adjustments and the transition to motherhood. You might not want someone living in your house full time but would appreciate an extra pair of hands around the place when things are getting on top of you. Whether it is helping you with your baby or giving you time for much needed rest.
I offer additional support around the home for up to eight weeks after the birth and will assist with family adjustment, newborn care and feeding, birth counselling and the promotion of parent-infant bonding.
Should you choose to go ahead with hiring me as your doula, I will assist you with:
Providing physical, emotional, and informational support
Assisting with breastfeeding support or formula feeding
Assisting with baby and sibling care
Escorting mum on her first trips out with her new baby
Running errands
Performing light household tasks such as laundry, dishes and
Vacuuming
Recognise and help mothers who might have symptoms of Baby
blues and other post-natal mood disorders
Offer you loan books and DVD’s from my extensive library
I have been privilaged to have worked with single parents, new borns with elder siblings, special care babies and sets of twins.
There is a great deal of evidence suggesting that quality support eases the transition that comes with the addition of a baby/ies to the family. By attending to the needs of the entire family, and offering quality referral information and birth counselling, the post-natal experience is enhanced.
