Hello my name is Callie. I became an antenatal, birth and postnatal Doula because of my daughter. She had read an article about the world of Doula’s in a mother and baby magazine during her third pregnancy and suggested that I should train as a Doula mainly because of the support I gave her during the births of my first two grandchildren. She felt that other prospective mothers would benefit by my nurturing and calm presence. When she became pregnant with my fourth grandchild, I decided that I would attend a three day course to see if becoming a Doula was something I would like to explore further. I thought if my daughter had belief in me, then why not. After all it was something that as a mother was natural for me to do and I had so enjoyed supporting her and her husband in the birth environment.
Since then I have completed the Birth & Postnatal course with Nurturing Birth and have successfully completed the rigorous Doula UK certification process and have become a fully recognised Doula. I have had the experience of supporting a variety of women and families during pregnancy, birth and in the postpartum period. I have given support in Hospital and home/water birth and have used Rebozo and Aromatherapy Massage to help mum to be feel relaxed, calm and confident. I have supported women opting for Epidural and C-section also with Parents whose babies require Special Care.
I will help you through the birthing process, build confidence in your natural abilities and I will support your choices in preparation to have the birth experience you require. I am a good listener and I will give you the time and reassurance needed both physical and emotional, delivered in a warm, sensitive and caring way. Helping in making your journey a positive and rewarding one.
As the relationship between Doula and prospective parents is an intimate and trusting one from the word go! It is important that we all like and feel comfortable with each other. With that in mind, it is suggested that a couple interview other Doulas to make sure they find one that fits.
I regularly attend study days and meetings, as I feel it is important to keep up with my personal development.
A precious moment
